OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Matt Kassian from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2014.
Kassian, 26, participated in the Wild's 2012-13 training camp before being assigned to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Houston. In nine games with the Aeros this season, Kassian has recorded one goal and 12 penalty minutes.
The Edmonton native made his NHL debut during the 2010-11 season after originally being selected in the second round, 57th overall, by Minnesota in the 2005 draft. In 28 career NHL games, all with the Wild, Kassian has registered two goals and 27 penalty minutes.
In 229 career AHL games, all with Houston, he has recorded 12 goals, 12 assists and 505 penalty minutes.
