KENNEWICK, Wash. - Zach Pochiro and Colin Jacobs scored in the shootout as the Prince George Cougars edged the host Tri-City Americans 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Jari Erricson had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Cougars (21-38-8), who are winners of three straight games, and Dallas Ehrhardt scored the other.
"It’s exciting us," Jacobs said of the win. "We have had our share of rough stretches during the year. Beating Tri-City is something special to us. We know this is a tough place to play. We just tried to get pucks to the net. It wasn’t a pretty game by any means, but a good effort by both teams. I’m glad we came out on top."
Justin Feser and Michal Plutner scored for the Americans (40-24-4).
Mac Engel stopped 22 shots for the win as Troy Trembley made 21 saves in a losing cause.
Prince George went 0 for 4 on the power play while Tri-City scored once on three chances with the man advantage.
