Athanasiou scores winner as the Colts edge the Bulls in overtime

BARRIE, Ont. - Andreas Athanasiou scored 2:26 into overtime as the Barrie Colts edged the visiting Belleville Bulls 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Mark Scheifele and Anthony Camara also scored for the Colts (41-19-4), who won their fifth game in a row.

Scheifele's goal was his 14th in his last 13 games while Camara's extended his point streak to nine games.

Daniil Zharkov and Brady Austin scored for the Bulls (40-16-8), who have dropped four of their last five contests.

Barrie's Mathias Niederberger turned aside 19 shots for the win as Belleville's Malcolm Subban made 34 saves in a losing cause.

Both clubs went 0 for 4 on the power play.

The victory moves the Colts to within two points of the Bulls for top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Each club has four regular-season games remaining.

Quote of the Day

After being through it and seeing the other [outdoor] games on TV, just the atmosphere is spectacular. To stand here -- and we are essentially almost on the blue line -- and look up [into the stands] and knowing it is going to be packed and playing our biggest rival in this setting is going to be pretty special.
