Millette scores twice as the Rebels down the Ice

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Cory Millette scored twice and Turner Elson had two assists as the Red Deer Rebels defeated the host Kootenay Ice 4-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Rhyse Dieno and Brooks Maxwell each had a goal and an assist for the Rebels (35-24-6), who won for the first time in three games, while Patrik Bartosak stopped 21-of-22 shots for the victory.

Jaedon Descheneau scored the lone goal for the Ice (32-30-2), who had their five-game win streak snapped, and Mackenzie Skapski made 22 saves in a losing cause.

Both clubs went 0 for 2 on the power play.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
