Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has been fined $10,000 for cross-checking.

NEW YORK – Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has been fined $10,000, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Jones in NHL Game No. 295 in Dallas on Thursday, February 28, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 16:00 of the third period. Benn was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Quote of the Day

I kept refreshing the page on the NHL website after the second round and I was shocked he lasted that long. I'm sure the Coyotes were pretty happy to get him. He's such a good player and he plays big in big games.
