SUNRISE, Fla.Florida Panthers defenseman Mike Weaver left Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with a lower-body injury and will not return.

Weaver was injured with about 12 minutes left in the period and limped off the ice while the action moved toward the Buffalo zone.

The veteran defenseman's injury-related departure came about five minutes before goaltender Scott Clemmensen was removed after allowing three goals on 10 shots in the first 16:46. He was replaced by Jose Theodore -- who was pulled in place of Clemmensen two nights earlier in a 6-4 win against Pittsburgh.

For me, it's a great win for our hockey team and for a lot of people back in Columbus, especially our fans in particular … people who have been devoted to this organization, it's big.
