Mackenzie Skapski makes 42 saves to lift Ice to a 2-0 win over Tigers

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Mackenzie Skapski made 42 saves and Brock Montgomery's power-play goal at 4:07 of the first period held up as the Kootenay Ice beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-0 Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Levi Cable added an empty net goal at 19:49 of the third.

Skapski turned aside a pair of first-period breakaway attempts, and was solid down the stretch as the Ice (32-29-2) inched closer to a playoff spot.

They are currently eighth in the WHL's Eastern Conference.

Cam Lanigan made 38 saves for Medicine Hat (33-29-3), which remained sixth in the conference.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
