PHILADELPHIA -- Flyers defenseman Erik Gustafsson suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and left Philadelphia's game against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. The Flyers announced during the second intermission that he will not return.
Gustafsson blocked a shot from Eric Fehr seven minutes into the game and then left the ice. He did not return.
He was playing in his seventh consecutive game since being recalled from Adirondack of the American Hockey League.
That's today's game. That's one of the things you have to deal with when you're a championship team. Guys are going to earn more money based on their performance and what they've achieved, [and] deservedly so. [Saad] falls into that category.
