With Michal Neuvirth ill, Capitals recall goaltender Philipp Grubauer for Philly game

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Philipp Grubauer from Hershey of the AHL.

The Capitals brought in Grubauer on Wednesday morning because Michal Neuvirth is ill. He was expected to serve as the backup for Braden Holtby for the road game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old Grubauer has a 6-4-1 record in his rookie season with Hershey.

Quote of the Day

Hopefully [Jonathan] has a year that pushes us, that is the organization, to speak to him next summer and looking for [a long-term contract]. Because the thought process is trying to get a goaltender, and hopefully it's Jonathan, to be the stabilizer for this franchise.
