Sabourin scores two goals as the Generals down the Petes

OSHAWA, Ont. - Scott Sabourin scored two goals as the Oshawa Generals defeated the visiting Peterborough Petes 4-1 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Tyler Biggs and Cole Cassels also scored for the Generals (34-21-4), who improved to 18-10-2 on home ice, while Boone Jenner, Matt Petgrave and Geoffrey Schemitsch had two assists apiece.

Chase Hatcher scored the lone goal for the Petes (21-31-7), who fell to 10-14-5 on the road.

Daniel Altshuller made 22 saves for his league-leading 32nd victory of the season as Michael Giugovaz earned the game's second star after turning away 48-of-52 shots in defeat.

Oshawa went 1 for 4 on the power play while Peterborough failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Biggs opened the scoring for the Generals in the first period before Hatcher responded for the Petes in the second period.

Tied 1-1 after 40 minutes of play, Sabourin scored the eventual winner on the power play 9:45 into the third period.

Cassels made it 3-1 for Oshawa at 13:08 and Sabourin added his second goal of the game with 30 seconds remaining in regulation time.
