QMJHL Roundup: Halifax Mooseheads crush Acadie-Bathurst Titan 11-3

Ten players recorded a multi-point game for the Mooseheads on Sunday as Halifax crushed the visiting Acadie-Bathurst Titan 11-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Brent Andrews and Martin Frk each had two goals and two assists for the Mooseheads (49-6-3), who extended their win streak to seven games, and Jonathan Drouin scored once and set up three more.

Drouin's four-point performance pushed his point streak to 23 games and includes 21 goals and 53 points. The 17-year-old now has 36 goals and 93 points in 42 games, which moves him ahead of the Rimouski Oceanic's Peter Trainor for the QMJHL scoring lead.

Matthew Boudreau picked up his second hat trick of the season for Halifax while Stefan Fournier scored two goals and had an assist.

Andrew Ryan had a goal and an assist, Darcy Ashley, Luca Ciampini and MacKenzie Weeger had two assists apiece and Konrad Abeltshauser chipped in with three assists to round out the Mooseheads' offence.

Zach O'Brien, Francois Godin and Christophe Lalancette scored for the Titan (23-31-6), who fell to 12-16-3 on the road.

Halifax's Zachary Fucale made 20 saves to earn his league-leading 39th win of the season as Acadie-Bathurst's Jacob Brennan took the loss after allowing six goals on 33 shots through two periods of action. Mason MacDonald replaced Brennan to start the third period and only stopped 7-of-12 shots in relief.

The Mooseheads, who have the league's top power play, went 4 for 7 with the man advantage while the Titan failed to score on three power-play opportunities.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: P.E.I. 8, Cape Breton 2; Drummondville 1, Saint John 0 and Blainville-Boisbriand 6, Shawinigan 1.

At Halifax, Drouin opened the scoring and Boudreau gave the Mooseheads a 2-0 lead to take into the first intermission.

Godin replied for the Titan 2:20 into the second period, however four straight goals to blow the game open.

Ryan scored at 4:29 and Andrews Frk and Fournier scored in a span of 4:21 to make it 6-1 Halifax.

Lalancette got one back for Acadie-Bathurst with just 11 seconds remaining in the second.

Boudreau made it 7-2 just over two minutes into the third period and Frk and Andrews put up two more goals just 25 seconds apart before O'Brien scored the Titan's third goal of the game.

Boudreau completed his hat trick at 14:28 and Fournier added one more goal for Halifax at 16:43.

At Saint John, N.B., Jerome Verrier scored the winning goal at 16:34 of the third period while on the power play and Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 26 shots as Drummondville (32-23-4) handed the Sea Dogs (21-37-1) their fourth loss in a row.

At Boisbriand, Que., Samuel Hodhod scored two goals and back-up goaltender Guillaume Decelles made 21 saves for his second win of the season as the Armada (35-16-8) downed Shawinigan (14-39-7), which is winless in five games.
