Langhamer makes 38 saves as the Tigers blank the Broncos

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Marek Langhamer stopped 38 shots as the Medicine Hat Tigers blanked the visiting Swift Current Broncos 2-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Langhamer's second shutout of the season earned him the game's first star and his third win in as many outings.

Curtis Valk opened the scoring for the Tigers (32-28-3) 4:24 into the first period and Boston Leier added an insurance goal into an empty net late in the third period.

Eetu Laurikainen made 23 saves in a losing cause for the Broncos (28-27-7), who dropped their third game in a row.

Medicine Hat went 0 for 3 on the power play while Swift Current failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
