Skapski makes 27 saves as the Ice down the Hitmen

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Mackenzie Skapski stopped 27 shots as the Kootenay Ice defeated the visiting Calgary Hitmen 5-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play.

Levi Cable, Brock Montgomery and Jaedon Descheneau each had a goal and an assist for the Ice (30-29-2), who won their 12th game in a row on at home, while Jakub Prochazka and Kyle O'Connor added single goals.

Pavlo Padakin scored the lone goal for the Hitmen (40-18-4), who lost for the first time in four outings, and Mack Shields turned away 31-of-35 shots in defeat.

Kootenay went 2 for 8 on the power play while Calgary failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
