Niederberger makes 44 saves as the Colts blank the Storm

BARRIE, Ont. - Mathias Niederberger made 44 saves as the Barrie Colts blanked the Guelph Storm 2-0 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

The shutout was Niederberger’s second in eight days and third of the season.

Steven Beyers and Tyson Fawcett scored for Barrie (37-19-4), which snapped a four-game winless streak.

Garret Sparks made 33 saves in a losing cause for Guelph (33-20-5), which were shutout for just the second time this season.

The Colts found some success on the power play, going 1-for-3, while the Storm failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

After being through it and seeing the other [outdoor] games on TV, just the atmosphere is spectacular. To stand here -- and we are essentially almost on the blue line -- and look up [into the stands] and knowing it is going to be packed and playing our biggest rival in this setting is going to be pretty special.
