McDonagh leaves game with injury after hit
Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh left their game against the Montreal Canadiens after taking a hit from Max Pacioretty at 7:20 of the second period.

MONTREAL – The New York Rangers injury situation got worse Saturday night when defenseman Ryan McDonagh left their game against the Montreal Canadiens after taking a hit from Max Pacioretty at 7:20 of the second period.

Pacioretty was given a two-minute minor for boarding on the play that left McDonagh bloodied. McDonagh had previously hit Pacioretty hard into the boards near the Canadiens bench’ and the Montreal forward was slow to get up.

The Rangers were already playing without Michael Del Zotto on defense after he left their previous game Thursday night in Ottawa following a hit by Senators defenseman Marc Methot.

New York was also missing top line left wing Rick Nash and fourth-line checker Arron Asham.
