PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Ty Rattie scored twice and set up one more as the Portland Winterhawks downed the host Prince George Cougars 6-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Seth Jones, Nicolas Petan and Taylor Leier had a goal and an assist each for the Winterhawks (50-9-3), who set a new franchise record with their 25th road victory of the season, and Troy Rutkowski added a single goal.

Troy Bourke and Zach Pochiro scored for the Cougars (18-35-8), who have dropped back-to-back contests and sit three points behind the Seattle Thunderbirds for the final playoff position in the Western Conference.

Brendan Burke made 24 saves for the win as Mac Engel stopped 37-of-43 shots in a losing cause.

Portland went 2 for 4 on the power play while Prince George scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

I didn't think it would actually work, but it ended up working, so I'm thanking my lucky stars tonight.
