SARNIA, Ont. - Nick Cousins scored the hat trick Thursday to help the Sault Greyhounds double the Sarnia Sting 6-3 in the Ontario Hockey League.
Cousins also added an assist as the Greyhounds (32-21-4) won their third straight game and moved into sixth in the Western Conference standings.
Ryan Sproul chipped in a goal and an assist, while Sergei Tolchinsky and Trent Mallette also scored. Brandon Alderson added in with two assists.
Reid Boucher had two goals for the Sting (32-24-3), extending his league-lead to 53 on the season.
Craig Duininck had the other goal, while Anthony DeAngelo added two assists as the Sting suffered their second consecutive loss and dropped to seventh in the Western Conference playoff race.
Justin Nichols started the game for the Greyhounds, giving up just one goal on eight shots in the first period. Matt Murray finished the game with 13 saves.
JP Anderson took the loss as the Sting were outshot 45-23, including 22-5 in the second period.
Sting went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Greyhounds were 1-for-4.
