Matt Read, the Philadelphia Flyers' top goal-scorer, left the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after the first period Wednesday night and will not return due to an upper-body injury.

PITTSBURGH -- Matt Read, the Philadelphia Flyers' top goal-scorer, left the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after the first period Wednesday night and will not return due to an upper-body injury.

Read, who had 24 goals as a rookie last season and had seven in the Flyers' first 17 games this season, was seen taking a puck off his chest late in the first period.

Former Penguin Max Talbot replaced Read on Philadelphia's top line.

Quote of the Day

It's really exciting. I'm pretty sure that when I play my first game I'm going to be emotional. To be back on the ice playing a game, being in game situations, with all the routines and rituals I do before games and during the game, I feel like I'm going to be emotional. I'm going to be really happy.
