Darren Haydar scores 2, adds another in shootout as Chicago beats Abbotsford 4-3

CHICAGO - Darren Haydar scored twice and added another goal in the shootout as the Chicago Wolves beat the Abbotsford Heat 4-3 in American Hockey League action Wednesday.

Bill Sweatt also scored for Chicago (25-16-7), led 3-1 after Haydar scored his second of the night 28 seconds into the third period.

But Abbotsford (26-20-8) rallied on goals in the third by Brett Carson and Krys Kolanos, who tied the game with less than three minutes left in regulation. Mitch Wahl also scored for the Heat, which is winless in five games.

In the shootout, Haydar, Nathan Longpre and Michael Davies each beat Abbotsford goaltender Leland Irving, while only Carter Bancks managed a goal for the Heat.

Wolves goaltender Matt Climie finished with 32 saves, while Irving stopped 35 shots.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
