Sabres coach Ruff hints more changes could be coming after Buffalo waives F McCormick

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres have placed fourth-line forward Cody McCormick on waivers, and coach Lindy Ruff hints more changes could be coming to shake up his slow-starting team.

McCormick became the odd-man out Wednesday because Ruff said the team has enough toughness already. He added a decision hasn't been made on how the Sabres will fill the roster spot before their game at Toronto on Thursday.

Ruff then cut short his availability with reporters after suggesting more changes could be on the horizon because "it isn't working the way we're going." He didn't specify what those changes might be.

The Sabres (6-10-1) are in the midst of a 4-10-1 slump following a 2-1 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday.

McCormick, an eight-year NHL veteran, had no points in eight games this season.

Quote of the Day

I watched many times this year the series between the Russians and Canada in 1972, and he was a dominating player there. After I watched the tapes, I respect him a lot more because he turned the series around. He was the guy. In that time, he was the best in the world. It’s a big honor for me to tie him.
