Sylvester scores twice as the Hitmen down the Royals

CALGARY - Cody Sylvester scored a pair of power-play goals to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-1 win over the Victoria Royals in Western Hockey League action on Friday.

Brady Brassart also scored for the Hitmen (38-17-4), who bounced back from a 4-3 road loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night.

Steven Hodges scored the lone goal for the Royals (32-21-5), who are in the midst of a six game-road trip that will wrap up in Edmonton on Sunday when they face the Oil Kings.

Calgary goalie Chris Driedger stopped 31 shots to record his 29th win of the season as Coleman Vollrath made 22 saves in defeat.

Calgary went 2 for 6 on the power play while Victoria scored once on eight chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

After being through it and seeing the other [outdoor] games on TV, just the atmosphere is spectacular. To stand here -- and we are essentially almost on the blue line -- and look up [into the stands] and knowing it is going to be packed and playing our biggest rival in this setting is going to be pretty special.
