Brandon Pirri scores twice as Rockford IceHogs cruise past Abbotsford Heat 7-2

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Brandon Pirri scored twice for the Rockford IceHogs in a 7-2 rout of the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League play Saturday.

Adam Clendening, Shawn Lalonde, Kenndal McArdal, David Gilbert and Martin St. Pierre also scored for Rockford (23-25-2), which opened a 5-0 lead in the first period.

Ben Walter and Krys Kolanos replied for the Heat (26-19-7), who lost their third straight game but still lead the North Division by three points ahead of Toronto.

Carter Hutton made 21 saves in net for the IceHogs, while Barry Brust stopped 31 shots for Abbotsford.
