KENT, Wash. - Arvin Atwal scored 23 seconds into overtime as the Vancouver Giants edged the host Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.
Cain Franson and Taylor Vickerman also scored for the Giants (15-43-0), who won for the first time in three outings.
Luke Lockhart had a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds (19-32-7), who dropped their seventh game in a row, and Shea Theodore scored the other.
Payton Lee stopped 25 shots for the win as Danny Mumaugh made 30 saves in a losing cause.
Vancouver went 0 for 5 on the power play while Seattle failed to score on either of its chances with the man advantage.
