Columbus Blue Jackets activate defenceman Adrian Aucoin after missing 6 games with injury

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenceman Adrian Aucoin off of injured reserve after he missed the last six games with a lower-body injury.

The 39-year-old Aucoin was signed as an unrestricted free agent this past summer.

He has appeared in 1,079 career NHL games with Vancouver (341), Tampa Bay (26), the New York Islanders (235), Chicago (92), Calgary (157), Phoenix (221) and Columbus (7). Aucoin ranks 12th among all active NHL blueliners with 395 career points (121 goals).

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Aucoin won a silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics after spending two seasons (1992-94) with the Canadian National Team and has appeared in 62 career Stanley Cup playoff games (6 goals, 15 assists).

Quote of the Day

For six months, it's a really good accomplishment. But as soon as April [11, the end of the regular season] comes around, no one thinks about the regular season anymore. For six months, it's a real battle to get into the playoffs in the NHL these days. There are a lot of good teams, and it takes consistency over a long time.
