D'Agostini made 46 saves as Petes win 3-1 over Battalion in lone OHL game

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Andrew D'Agostini made 46 saves to lead the Peterborough Petes to a 3-1 win over the Brampton Battalion in the lone Ontario Hockey League game Thursday night.

Nick Czinder and Jonatan Tanus each had a goal and an assist and Stephen Pierog also scored for Peterborough (19-29-7). Patrik Machac scored the only goal for Brampton (25-21-9).

Machac opened the scoring on an assist from Zach Bell 9:15 into the first period.

Pierog tied the game at 14:49 of the second and Czinder scored the only power play goal of the game just under four minutes later when he ripped a shot past Matej Machovsky, who made 33 saves.

Brampton fought to tie the game, outshooting Peterborough 21-7 in the third period, but couldn't beat D'Agostini.

Tanus closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal with 1:03 to play.

Quote of the Day

He's a winner. We want winners here, and he's a proven winner. He's won two Stanley Cups. He's 22 years old and been a big part of it. He's got all the right tools. He's got size (6-foot-1, 204 pounds) and strength. He's exactly what we were looking for. He's going to be a big piece of our team for many, many years to come.
