REGINA - Hunter Shinkaruk had a goal and an assist to help the Medicine Hat Tigers edge the Regina Pats 4-3 on Tuesday in the Western Hockey League.

Jacob Doty had the winner for Medicine Hat (28-26-3) midway through the third period. Elgin Pearce and Boston Leier also scored for the Tigers while defenceman Dylan Bredo chipped in with two assists.

Carson Samoridny, Marc McCoy and Morgan Klimchuk scored for Regina (20-31-6). Colby Williams had two assists.

Medicine Hat lead 2-1 after the first and a scoreless second. Early in the third the Tigers went ahead 3-1 after Shinkaruk's 31st of the season.

The Pats made things interesting with two goals in 40 seconds to tie the game 3-3.

Doty broke the deadlock on a partial breakaway set up by Bredo. It was his 11th goal of the season.

The Tigers went 1 for 8 on the power play while shutting out Regina's three man advantages.

Cam Lanigan made 26 saves for the win. Matt Hewitt stopped 31.

It's hard to walk into that locker room and look those guys in the eye when they've played -- clearly, that was our best game we've played in the series -- and I thought we deserved a better fate tonight.
