Former NHL players Paul Kariya and Mark Recchi were among those inducted Tuesday into the British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame.

Marc Crawford, who coached the Vancouver Canucks as well as three other NHL franchises, also was inducted, as were former player and coach Colin Patterson, longtime coach Nancy Wilson (the first woman to receive the honor), and the Memorial Cup-winning 1993-94 and 1994-95 Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League.

Vancouver-born Kariya played 989 NHL games over 15 NHL seasons for the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues, and was a point-per-game player with 402 goals and 587 assists. He helped the Ducks reach Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils.

Recchi, born in Kamloops, was a veteran of 1,652 games (fourth all-time) over 22 seasons for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins. He won Stanley Cups with the 1991 Penguins and the 2006 Hurricanes and posted career totals of 577 goals and 1,533 points in the regular season as well as 61 goals and 147 points in 189 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Crawford has coached more than 1,000 NHL games with the Canucks, Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars, with a record of 549 wins, 421 losses, 100 ties and 77 overtime/shootout losses. He led the Avalanche to the Stanley Cup in 1996, their first season in Colorado.

Patterson played more than 500 games for the Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres.

Wilson has an extensive career as a player and coach.

The Blazers' rosters in '93-94 and '94-95 featured future NHL notables Jarome Iginla, Shane Doan and Darcy Tucker.

The Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies will be held in Penticton on July 26.

Quote of the Day

There was a lot of talk off the ice. From a player's standpoint, that's not the talk in the room. GMs make decisions, coaches make decisions, but as a team you have to come together and be ready to go, and we are.
