TORONTO -- Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier was unexpectedly not in the lineup for Monday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. After taking the morning skate early Monday, the 20-year-old forward was not on the ice for the pre-game skate.

The Flyers have yet to comment as to why Couturier was scratched. He was expected to play center between Matt Read and Mike Knuble.

Couturier has not missed any of the Flyers' 12 games this season. He has two goals and three assists over that span.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
