Laughton with three points as the Generals double up the IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Scott Laughton scored the winning goal 1:08 into the third period as the Oshawa Generals doubled up the host Niagara IceDogs 4-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Laughton also had two assists and earned the game's first star.

Tyler Biggs scored twice for the Generals (30-19-4) while Scott Sabourin added a goal and an assist.

Ryan Strome and Brendan Perlini scored for the IceDogs (25-25-4), who came into the contest with just two wins in their last 10 games.

Oshawa's Daniel Altshuller made 25 saves for his 28th victory of the season as Niagara's Christopher Festarini turned away 32 shots in defeat.

Oshawa went 3 for 6 on the power play while Niagara failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

What we expected is what we got. Very mature young individual that's focused. He is on the right track. He's not only a great hockey individual, but he's a good person off the ice. He seemed to take a leadership role with this group right off the hop and ran away with it, and was vocal, was respectful, was everything it takes to be a Panther. His future looks bright.
