D'Agostini makes 40 saves as the Petes edge the Greyhounds

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Andrew D'Agostini made 40 saves to lead the Peterborough Petes to a 3-2 win over the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Ontario Hockey League play on Saturday.

Brett Findlay, Cody Thompson and Nick Czinder scored for the Petes (18-29-7).

Nick Cousins and Ryan Sproul replied for the Greyhounds (29-20-4).

Findlay opened the scoring at 2:42 of the second period, faking a pass then burying a wrist shot.

Cousins and Sproul gave Sault St. Marie the lead with goals less than two minutes apart just before the half-way point of the period, but Thompson tied it up on a deflection at 10:18.

Jonatan Tanus made a pass off the back boards to a breaking Czinder, who fired home what proved to be the winning goal at 14:57 of the second.

Greyhounds' goaltender Justin Nichols made 31 saves in a losing cause.

Peterborough went 0 for 2 on the power play while Sault Ste. Marie scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
