Carruth 26 saves, Leipsic two goals as the Winterhawks blank the Chiefs

PORTLAND, Ore. - Mac Carruth stopped 26 shots and Brendan Leipsic scored twice as the Portland Winterhawks blanked the visiting Spokane Chiefs 4-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Taylor Leier had a goal and an assist each for the Winterhawks (43-7-3), who won for the sixth time in their last seven games, and Troy Rutkowski and Seth Jones chipped in two assists apiece.

Eric Williams made 43 saves for the Chiefs (30-20-2), who are winless in four games.

Portland went 1 for 6 on the power play while Spokane failed to score on either of its chances with the man advantage.
