Ritchie scores twice as the IceDogs down the Steelheads

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brett Ritchie scored two goals as the Niagara IceDogs downed the visiting Mississauga Steelheads 4-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Ryan Strome had a goal and an assist for the IceDogs (25-23-4), who have won back-to-back games after losing eight straight, and Carter Verhaeghe scored the other.

Steven Shipley and Jesse Graham each chipped in two assists for Niagara.

Riley Brace scored the lone goal for the Steelheads (22-24-4), who have lost nine of their last 11 contests.

Christopher Festarini made 17 saves for the win as Spencer Martin stopped 29-of-33 shots in defeat.

Niagara went 2 for 4 on the power play while Mississauga failed to score on its only chance with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

Obviously there's a lot of expectations around me but it's something I try not to focus on. I'm just trying to go out there, be myself on the ice every day, try to get better, be myself around the guys in the locker room. I think that's what's made me successful and the person that I am.
