Sissons scores twice as Rockets down Giants

VANCOUVER - Colton Sissons scored twice as the Kelowna Rockets downed the host Vancouver Giants 5-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Tyrell Goulbourne and Tyson Baillie each had a goal and an assist for the Rockets (39-10-4), who have won 16 of their last 18 games, and JT Barnett added a single goal.

Dalton Sward scored the lone goal for the Giants (13-39-0).

Jackson Whistle made 32 saves for the win as Jared Rathjen stopped 24 shots in a losing cause.

Kelowna went 1 for 2 on the power play while Vancouver failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
