Maxwell scores winner as the Hurricanes edge the Rebels

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Russell Maxwell scored the winning goal at 17:19 of the third period as the Lethbridge Hurricanes edged the visiting Red Deer Rebels 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Sam Mckechnie and Graham Hood also scored for the Hurricanes (24-22-8) while Ryan Pilon chipped in with two assists.

Dominik Volek and Mathew Dumba scored for the Rebels (27-21-6), who lost in regulation for the first time in four outings, and Rhyse Dieno assisted on both of his club's goals.

Ty Rimmer made 31 saves for the win as Patrik Bartosak turned away 28 shots in a losing cause.

Lethbridge went 1 for 4 on the power play while Red Deer scored once on three chances with the man advantage.
