Makarov 42 saves as the Blades blank the Hitmen

SASKATOON - Andrey Makarov stopped 42 shots as the Saskatoon Blades blanked the visiting Calgary Hitmen 6-0 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Brenden Walker and Nathan Burns each scored twice for the Blades (26-21-3), who have won three games in a row, and Matej Stranksy and Josh Nicholls had a goal apiece.

Shane McColgan, Erik Benoit, Michael Ferland and Darren Dietz all had two assists for Saskatoon.

Mack Shields made 28 saves for the Hitmen (33-15-4), who have dropped back-to-back contests.

Saskatoon went 2 for 6 on the power play while Calgary failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
