Scheidl with three points as Pats beat Wheat Kings

REGINA - Lane Scheidl scored twice and assisted on one more as the Regina Pats edged the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Morgan Klimchuk had a goal and an assist for the Pats (19-27-6), who snapped their eight-game winless streak, and Matt Hewitt made 22 saves for the victory.

Jayce Hawryluk scored both goals for the Wheat Kings (18-31-4), who have dropped four games in a row.

Brandon's Jordan Papirny stopped 21 in his WHL debut.

Regina went 1 for 3 on the power play while Brandon scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
