Mark Mancari's hat trick leads Rochester Americans past Toronto Marlies 5-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Mark Mancari scored a hat trick as Rochester defeated the Toronto Marlies 5-1 in American Hockey League play Friday for the Americans' fourth straight victory.

Kevin Porter and Evan Rankin also scored for Rochester (23-15-3), while defenceman Brayden McNabb added three assists.

The win moved Rochester within one point of the third-place Marlies in the packed North Division.

The Americans led 4-0 before Jerry D'Amigo scored for Toronto (23-14-4) at 15:24 in the third period.

Mancari meanwhile completed his hat trick with a power-play goal in the dying seconds of regulation.

Rochester goaltender David Leggio made 27 saves, while at the other end Jussi Rynnas allowed all five goals on 29 shots.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
