VICTORIA - Mark McNeill scored with one tenth of a second left in regulation and Leon Draisaitl had the only goal of the shootout Tuesday as the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Victoria Royals 6-5 in the Western Hockey League.

Draisaitl also had a goal and an assist for Prince Albert (29-17-4), Davis Vandane had a goal and two assists and Carson Perreaux added a goal and an assist of his own.

Shane Danyluk had the other goal for the Raiders, while McNeill chipped in with an assist.

Luke Siemens made 28 saves for the victory.

Steven Hodges and Alex Gogolev, with a goal and an assist each, Mitch Deacon, Brandon Magee and Jack Walker scored for Victoria (27-17-1-3). Coleman Valrath made 30 saves in the losing effort.

The Royals opened the scoring on the first shift of the game off a goal from Deacon made it 2-0 on Magee's 26th of the year midway through the period.

But Prince Albert answered back with goals from Perreaux, Draisaitl and Vandane, who gave Prince Albert their first lead of the game shorthanded with 58 seconds left in the period, to make it 3-2 heading to the second.

Gogolev tied the score on a breakaway midway through the second and Hodges then scored shorthanded to give the Royals a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Danyluk and Walker traded goals in the third to give Victoria a 5-4 lead before McNeill tied it late.

Once again, it shows character in this dressing room. Once again, there's no quitting in here. We all wanted this so bad and we worked so hard to get home-ice advantage and we weren't going to let this one slide.
