Ryan Murphy leads Rangers past Storm 3-2; Kitchener wins fourth in a row

GUELPH, Ont. - Captain Ryan Murphy had a goal and an assist as the Kitchener Rangers edged the Guelph Storm 3-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Josh Sterk and Matt Puempel also scored for Kitchener (29-14-6), which won its fourth game in a row. Joel Vienneau made 30 saves for the win.

Tanner Richard scored on a penalty shot for Guelph (28-15-5) and Cody McNaughton had a goal as well. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Garret Sparks stopped 28 shots for the Storm.

It was an undisciplined game with both teams taking many penalties. The Rangers racked up 20 minutes of penalties, while Guelph had 26 minutes.

Kitchener scored on one of its power plays, while the Storm were 0 for 6 with the man advantage.

Murphy's goal 17:47 into the second stood as the winner.
