Lanigan makes 55 saves as the Tigers edge the Chiefs

SPOKANE, Wash. - Cam Lanigan stopped 55 shots as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the host Spokane Chiefs 4-3 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Curtis Valk scored the winning goal at 7:54 of the third period for the Tigers (25-23-3) and Boston Leier had a goal and an assist.

Miles Koules and Hunter Shinkaruk each scored once to round out Medicine Hat's offence.

Todd Fiddler scored two goals and added an assist for the Chiefs (30-18-2) and Blake Gal scored the other.

Garret Hughson turned away 27-of-31 shots in a losing cause.

Medicine Hat went 1 for 2 on the power play while Spokane failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
