McGinn scores twice as the Storm extend win streak to six games

GUELPH, Ont. - Brock McGinn scored twice as the Guelph Storm edged the visiting Owen Sound Attack 2-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Hunter Garlent chipped in two assists for the Storm (27-14-5), who extended their win streak to six games, while Garret Sparks stopped 22-of-23 shots for the win.

Holden Cook scored the lone goal for the Attack (30-13-4), who lost in regulation for the first time in seven outings, and Jordan Binnington made 26 saves in defeat.

Guelph went 0 for 3 on the power play while Owen Sound failed to score on either of its chances with the man advantage.

McGinn opened the scoring 1:03 into the second period before Cook responded three minutes later. With the game tied, McGinn added his second goal of the game, and the eventual winner, at 18:05 of the second.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
