Ryan O'Connor has power-play overtime winner as Colts down IceDogs 2-1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Ryan O'Connor's power-play goal 35 seconds into overtime lifted the Barrie Colts to a 2-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.

The game was 0-0 until the 17:43 mark of the third period when Steven Shipley gave Niagara (23-20-4) the brief lead with his 22nd goal of the season.

However, just over a minute later Steven Beyers would tie the game with his 12th of the campaign.

O'Connor beat IceDogs goalie Chris Festarini on a one-timer to seal the deal with Niagara's Luke Mercer in the penalty box serving a high-sticking penalty. It was O'Connor's 15th goal of the season.

Festarini turned aside 31 shots in the loss, while Mathias Niederberger made 29 stops in the win for the Colts (31-14-2).

Barrie was 1 for 3 on the power play. Niagara was 0 for 2.

Quote of the Day

You get the right the whistles at the right times, you can leave him out there. He's a beast when it comes to being on the ice. I thought [Saturday] he was a big man. That first period, he did that lateral cut and it was like three bowling pins bounced off him. There's not too many guys that can do that.
