Leivo with three points, including OT winner, as the Rangers edge the Wolves

SUDBURY, Ont. - Joshua Leivo scored at 4:36 of overtime and added two assists in regulation as the visiting Kitchener Rangers edged his former team the Sudbury Wolves 5-4 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Leivo had spent the past three seasons playing for Sudbury before Kitchener acquired him in a trade on Jan. 8th, and the 19-year-old forward has two goals and eight points in seven games with his new club.

Tobias Rieder had a goal and an assist for the Rangers (26-14-6) while Eric Ming, Derek Schoenmakers and Matt Puempel each scored once.

Nicholas Baptiste scored twice for the Wolves (21-17-8), who came into the game with victories in eight of their past 10 outings, and Charlie Dodero chipped in with three assists.

Mathew Campagna had a goal and an assist and Michael Kantor scored once to round out Sudbury's offence.

Joel Vienneau made 25 saves for the win as Franky Palazzese turned aside 42 shots in a losing cause.

Vienneau, who was also picked up in the Jan. 8th deal that saw Palazzese go back the other way, is 3-0-1 in four starts with the Rangers. Palazzese is 3-1-1 in five starts with his new club.

Kitchener went 1 for 6 on the power play while Sudbury went 1 for 4.

Schoenmakers opened the scoring for the Rangers 7:27 into the first period when he tipped a Ryan Murphy point shot past Palazzese.

Baptiste responded early in the second period with a wrist shot from the left face-off circle and Kantor made it 2-1 for the Wolves at 4:33.

Ming made it 2-2 with a short-handed goal at 14:40, but Campagna regained the lead for Sudbury on a penalty shot as he put the puck over Vienneau's glove at 16:32.

Puempel replied for Kitchener only 37 seconds into the third period, but Sudbury regained the lead one more time when Baptiste scored on the power play at 18:16

It looked as if the Wolves would skate away with two points, however Rieder scored with 43 seconds left in regulation to force extra time.
