NORFOLK, Va. - Josh Brittain scored in regulation and added the only goal of the shootout Friday as the St. John's IceCaps defeated the Norfolk Admirals 3-2 in the American Hockey League.

Emerson Etem had the other goal for Norfolk (15-19-3), which got 20 saves from Viktor Fasth.

Eric O'Dell and Richard Petiot replied in regulation for St. John's (16-20-3). Eddie Pasquale stopped 32 shots in taking the loss, while Raymond Sawada added two assists.

St. John's jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period with power-play goals just over four minutes apart.

But Brittain started the Norfolk rally with an even-strength goal at 9:01 of the second before Etem tied the score on the power play at 4:56 of the third.

St. John's went 2-for-5 with the man advantage, while Norfolk scored once on five chances.

Quote of the Day

I watched many times this year the series between the Russians and Canada in 1972, and he was a dominating player there. After I watched the tapes, I respect him a lot more because he turned the series around. He was the guy. In that time, he was the best in the world. It’s a big honor for me to tie him.
