Tri-City Americans' special teams perfect in 6-1 win over Everett Silvertips

EVERETT, Wash. - The Tri-City Americans were perfect on special teams as they defeated the Everett Silvertips 6-1 Tuesday night in Western Hockey League action.

Tri-City was 3 for 3 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill, and that success helped the Americans take control of the game at the beginning of the second period.

Brian Williams, Michal Plutnar, Parker Bowles, Justin Gutierrez, Mitch Topping and Jesse Mychan scored for Tri-City (25-16-3). Luke Lee-Knight, who earned the win in goal, made the best of his 32 saves in the first period when the game was still close.

Manraj Hayer scored the lone goal for Everett (17-26-2). Goalie Austin Lotz made 38 stops for the Silvertips.

Quote of the Day

We want to make sure that whoever makes our team really makes our team by earning it and not putting them in situations where they get preference because of their status as a first-round pick or whatever it might be. That's not going to happen. Everybody has to earn their way on our team.

— Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen on the team's prospects at development camp
