Holmberg with three points as the Chiefs double up the Ice

SPOKANE, Wash. - Mitch Holmberg scored two goals and assisted on one more as the Spokane Chiefs doubled up the visiting Kootenay Ice 4-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Brenden Kichton had a goal and two assists for the Chiefs (28-14-1) while Dylan Walchuk added a single goal.

Luke Philp and Jaedon Descheneau scored for the Ice (17-25-1), who had their seven-game win streak halted.

Eric Williams made 25 saves for the win as Mackenzie Skapski turned aside 31 shots in a losing cause.

Only three minor penalties were handed out all game. Spokane went 1 for 1 on the power play while Kootenay failed to earn any chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
