Burke makes 31 saves as the Winterhawks extend win streak to 13 games

EVERETT, Wash. - Brendan Burke stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Portland Winterhawks crushed the host Everett Silvertips 8-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Taylor Leier and Troy Rutkowski each scored twice for the Winterhawks (37-5-1), who extended their win streak to 13 games, and Nicolas Petan had a goal and two assists.

Brendan Leipsic and Taylor Peters had a goal and an assist each and Chase De Leo added a single goal to round out Portland's offence.

Daniel Cotton started in goal for the Silvertips (17-25-2) and he picked up the loss after allowing six goals on 38 shots through 46 minutes of action. Austin Lotz stopped 3-of-5 shots in relief.

Portland went 3 for 6 on the power play while Everett failed to score on seven chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
