Merkley with goal and an assist as the Broncos down the Raiders

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Jay Merkley had a goal and an assist to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Merkley scored the eventual game winner 2:25 into the third period when he converted a rebound for his 16th goal of the season. He also assisted on the game's opening goal by Graham Black.

Colby Cave scored an insurance goal for the Broncos (20-20-5) and Adam Lowry picked up an assist, which extends his current point streak to a league-high 19 games.

Josh Morrissey scored for the Raiders (25-15-3) at the 1:09 mark of the second period.

Eetu Laurikainen turned aside 43-of-44 shots for the win as Luke Siemens gave up two goals on 32 shots in a losing cause.

Swift Current failed to earn any power-play opportunities while Prince Albert went 0 for 1 with the man advantage.
