BARRIE, Ont. - Steven Beyers scored the only goal of the shootout Thursday as the Barrie Colts defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 5-4 in the Ontario Hockey League.
Ryan O'Connor, with a goal and an assist, Mark Scheifele, Justin Scott and Zach Hall scored in regulation for Barrie (27-12-1). Mathias Niederberger made 28 saves to get the win.
Dylan DeMelo had three goals and an assist in a losing effort for Mississauga (20-15-4).
Kristoff Kontos also scored for the Steelheads, while Riley Brace added a pair of assists. Spencer Martin turned aside 39 shots in the loss.
Both Scheifele and Anthony Camara, who had an assist, were playing their first game for the Colts since representing Canada at the world junior hockey championship in Russia.
Mississauga went a perfect 3-for-3 with the man advantage. Barrie, which has the league's second-best power play, ended the night at 0-for-3.
