Damon Severson, Ryan Olsen lead Kelowna Rockets over Victoria Royals 6-1

KELOWNA, B.C. - Damon Severson and Ryan Olsen each had a goal and an assist Wednesday as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 6-1 in the Western Hockey league.

Myles Bell, with his team-leading 27th goal of the season, Carter Rigby, MacKenzie Johnston and Zach Franko also scored for Kelowna (30-10-2), which exploded for five goals in the second period after a scoreless first.

Jordon Cooke stopped 17 shots as the Rockets won their seventh straight.

Trent Lofthouse, with his 10th goal of the season and first with the Royals after getting traded from Everett last week, replied for Victoria (20-16-3), which was outshot 38-18.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
